The author has been involved in the special education field for nearly 40 years. She began her career as a parent, then as an advocate for others representing families in due process hearings and helping others with IEP issues.
After earning her B.A. in Paralegal Studies, she began working as a contract paralegal for special education law firms in Indiana, California, and Texas. Pat is currently enrolled in the Special Education Advocacy Masters of Jurisprudence program at St. Mary's University Law School in San Antonio, Texas, with a matriculation date of December 2024. The St. Mary University Law School is the home of the annual Special Education Advocacy Summit, a summer institute for advanced advocates, law students, new lawyers, and lawyers new to special education.
She is currently employed as a paralegal in the Education Division of the Connell Michael Law Firm in Carmel, Indiana.
A long-time Wrightslaw presenter, the author is an Indiana Registered Paralegal and an affiliate member of the Indiana and American Bar Associations.
